Volunteering at SAS
Victim Advocates:
Specially trained volunteers provide 24-hour Victim Advocacy to victims of sexual assault. Advocates meet victims at the hospital or police department to provide emotional support, information and referral, and replacement clothing at the time of making a police report and/or seeking medical treatment following sexual assault.
Volunteer Advocates receive 30 hours of training before providing services, and volunteer 2-3 shifts of their choice each month. Volunteer Advocates respond to a crisis call by answering an activated pager.
Other Volunteers:
Friends and Community Members assist SAS every year with fund-raising events, community awareness activities, and general office duties.
Volunteers Needed:
SAS is always looking for dedicated individuals to help us help others. If you are interested in becoming a SAS Volunteer, please contact our business office at : 269-660-3925 and ask for our Volunteer Coordinator.
***Volunteers available during daytime hours are needed to assist with family advocacy at the Child Advocacy Center.
Each year, SAS Volunteers give over 20,000 hours of their time to help ease the pain of victims of sexual violence.
